Sand Dollar Shuffle 5M

It was a most beautiful day to be at the beach and go for a run, with ninety-two runners scattered along the coastline. Among them was ninety-year-old John Norberg and his dog. We even sang "Happy Birthday" to Davita McGoldrick, who told her family that instead of gifts this year, all she wanted was for the family to go for a run together at the Sand Dollar Shuffle 5M race. It was a day of celebration, festive food, and upbeat, summertime music, not to mention, lots of sunshine! I want each, and every participant, to know just how much I truly appreciate your support -- THANK YOU!! Without your support, there would be no Sand Dollar Shuffle.

AND... without volunteers, there would be no race. With that said, I want to thank Tanya Trump, who always has my back, and covers registration without a hitch. To Marlene Allen, who assisted Tanya at registration and brought her incredibly scrumptious brownies, thank you. To Brett Johnson, who once again, helped to pack race supplies across the sand for the second year! Speaking of trekking across the sand dunes... a HUGE thank you to both Chandelle and Colton Owens, who loaded and hauled nearly all the race gear, food, and drinks, by wagon, through the soft sand and then hung around to work the finish line. What an awesome mother-son team!! To Gary Timek, who always offers to assist me with timing and hauling gear to & from the shed; I am most grateful. To Yoon Kim, who took beautiful photos of the runners and even though there was a glitch with the registration forms, managed to post accurate and timely results -- I am so appreciative of your efficiency! To Gayle Patrice, who's always smiling and so welcoming, thank you for coming out a second year to manage the results board and handling it with ease. Finally, to my dear friends, Kathleen May and Jessica Harris, who arrived at 0645 to help with EVERYTHING, including shopping, baking, hauling supplies, and driving me to drop off point to mark course -- THANK YOU!! Also, Jess, thank you so much for such legible and accurately written finish line results, and Kathleen, your assistance in keeping everything flowing with the concessions and helping Gayle with the results board was invaluable. Last, but not least, Paul Kraus for making sure all permits and insurance were in line, thank you.
