Arcata Community Forest 2M & 5.5M

        Thanks to everyone who helped out with the Arcata Community Forest Run! The most impressive part of this year’s race was the number of people that participated. We had 52 people in the 2 mile race and 77 people in the 5.5 mile race. This was a significant increase over last year when we had 32 in the 2 mile race and 56 in the 5.5 mile race. It’s great to see so many people of all ages come out for a trail race! Ages in the 5.5 mile race ranged from 13 to 87 years old.

        I want to say a big thank you to all of the volunteers, especially my friends Sten and Shawn who are not even runners and came out to be course monitors at critical trail junctions. Once again, Bob and Gayle did a great job with their water stops, you guys are pros! Tanya was a big help marking the course race morning and then she went on to run the race herself. Sherry and Mj (and everyone else who pitched in when it got busy) did a great job with registration. Paul, Gary, Caroline, and Jen were very efficient with the finish line. Holly manned the finish line food table and other odd jobs at the start. Yoon took lots of pictures and typed out all the results. Of course, a special thanks to my wife Karen, she made the awards, baked the finish line cookies, helped me sweep the course after the race, and other little things. Thanks again to all the volunteers; I couldn’t do this without you! See you next year!
