Blue Lake Fish Hatchery (West End) Run 12/15/13

The weather prediction for Sunday morning in Blue Lake (December 15^th) was right on - chilly, chilly, chilly, and sunny! We had a great turn out with 94 in the 2 mile and 91 in the 4 mile! I am happy to say that everything went smoothly, mainly because of all my helper elves – Paul, Nancy, Sherry, Margaret, Mike Mulderig, Mike Minton, Matthew, Karen, James, and Yoon! Thanks so much!

This year we had a lot more kids running, probably due to Jack West and his great youth cross country program that just finished up – it really shows how much interest there is in youth running! Of the 92 entrants in the 2 mile, 27 were age 4-11, and the overall winner was Lane Bolton age 9 – 14:27 WOW!

In the 4 mile run we had 6 local high school runners – with Morgin Coonfield from Mac High the overall woman’s winner at 23:50 – OK, that … is … fast …

This is what I like about a certified course – a 4 mile is a 4 mile is a 4 mile; and a 23:50 time for 4 mile is a 5:57 pace – exactly.

So, great job kids, thanks to everyone who came out to run or walk and/or socialize, and to all of you who ran BOTH races – have another cupcake!
